In late April, visit us for Holland Happening, our annual celebration of the founding of Whidbey Island. Centered around our Dutch ancestry, Holland Happening features artist and food booths and a family parade.
If you are visiting us in May through July, check out our weekly Farmer's Market. Held weekly on Thursdays, the Farmer's Market is the place to sample local offerings from our many farms.
Late June includes our celebration of reuse and repurposing with our huge rummage sale, the Beachcomber's Bazaar. This annual event has been featured in Sunset Magazine as one of the best rummage sales in the West.
No celebration of July 4th would be complete without fireworks. Our annual national birthday is held at Windjammer Park, with a grand parade, family games and art and food booths. To cap the day off, we have a huge fireworks show over the harbor.
In August, we celebrate National Night Out (August 4 or around there) by opening up our streets and strolling through Oak Harbor with our friends and neighbors. In addition to National Night Out, August is our annual Car Show, featuring hot and classic cars from the past and present.
In late September, join us for our annual Open Studio Tour where you can see the local studios of Whidbey Island artists. See hand blown glassworks, hand-woven textiles, ceramics, watercolors and sculpture, plus unique jewelry and other artistic works.
Early October offers our celebration of local farmers with the annual Farm Tour. Tour local farms that grow our wonderful produce, including organic farms and the famous loganberry farms.
November would not be complete without a harvest festival celebrating our Thanksgiving holiday. Here on Whidbey Island, our harvest celebration is a Community Harvest Thanksgiving Dinner. Sample the harvest from local farms, like sweet potatoes, squash and other delightful appetizing treats.
